What to Expect in Psychotherapy

The psychotherapeutic structure, such as frequency of meetings, fees and administrative details, is outlined below.

Establishing the framework for therapy provides for an element of safety and consistency of expectations about the therapeutic process and relationship. A doctor’s referral is not required.

CONFIDENTIALITY

All of our communication becomes part of the clinical record and is kept in within the strictest confidence. Information can be disclosed or released to third parties only with your written consent.

PROCESS

We initially meet for six sessions weekly for the phase of therapy known as assessment. After this time we together reassess our goals, objectives, frequency as well as the fit between the therapist and the client.

FEES

Most extended health care benefits cover the services by a Registered Psychotherapist. I charge you directly after each session and provide you with a receipt which you can submit to your insurance provider. My fees are an eligible medical expense tax credit.

Mode of payment: I accept major credit cards & e-transfers.

Sliding scale: If a client is facing financial constraints, a sliding scale can be applied based on individual circumstances.

Forms

To comply with processes established for ethical practice, we require that the following forms be filled out at the start of the therapy.

CANCELLATIONS & LATE ARRIVAL POLICY

Your session times are reserved for you. If you arrive late, the appointment will still end at the regular scheduled time. If I cause the late start or need to end earlier, this time will be made up to you or the fee will be adjusted.

Cancellations: In the event that you are unable to keep your appointment, please notify me as soon as possible, at least three working days in advance. This notification can be via phone call, text, voicemail or email. Cancellations made less than three working days, not calling or not attending will be charged at regular fees.

This policy can be waived in case of emergency.
